This document must be signed by both the buyer and breeder before any puppy with a large molera is permitted to leave my home. I will be happy to discuss this condition with anyone via email, phone or in person, even you you didn't buy your puppy from me.
This Chihuahua puppy still has a large molera, or soft spot on the top of it’s head, a condition that is not uncommon in Chihuahuas. It is when the bones have not fused together in the skull. Since Chihuahuas have such large heads, most are born with this to allow them to pass through the birth canal. Most moleras are closed by the times that the dog reaches one year of age, although it many take up to three years to close. Very few Chihuahuas have moleras that remain largely open after three years of age. I have been informed by the breeder of this condition. Extra care must be taken with this pup when playing or running, especially around other pets, small children and people, as even a light blow to the head could be fatal (or running into the legs of chairs, etc.) If you have any questions regarding this condition, feel free to call me at (304)727-5329.
